The story of Durian Uncle is inseparable from the rise of the Black Thorn (D200). While the variety originated in Kampung Lima Kongsi, its journey to becoming a global sensation was pioneered through the bold vision of our founder at Serene Orchard.

By prioritizing the complex, flame-colored corpulence of the Black Thorn, we have spent decades perfecting the "Natural Fall" harvesting method that ensures each fruit delivers its signature buttery texture and rosy orange hue.

Heng Mee Oo (Ah Heng)

In the year 2000, while others hesitated, Heng Mee Oo (Ah Heng) made a historic decision. After finally tasting the elusive fruit that would become known as Black Thorn, he chose to chop down his established D24 orchard to graft mature stumps with this new variety.

It was a wild gamble that paid off. By 2010, his Black Thorn durians were at the center of a national media flurry, establishing a fad that would eventually redefine the premium durian market. Today, he manages Serene Orchard in Kedah—one of the largest Black Thorn orchards in Malaysia.

Ah Heng’s commitment to the variety helped secure its place in history, transforming the "Black Thorn belly-button" into a symbol of excellence recognized by fanatics and B2B buyers worldwide.
